David Lee Roth has announced his retirement

“I’m throwing within the sneakers. I am retiring,” Roth informed the newspaper in a cellphone name. “That is the primary, and solely, official announcement … You’ve got received the information. Share it with the world.”

CNN has reached out to Roth’s representatives for remark.

The flamboyant entrance man was often known as “Diamond Dave” through the band’s Seventies and ’80s heyday, when the foursome had hits like “Dance the Night time Away” and “Soar.”

Roth’s announcement comes simply shy of a 12 months after Eddie Van Halen, the band’s lead guitarist and certainly one of its namesakes, died of cancer. The singer referenced Van Halen’s demise within the name with the Las Vegas newspaper, saying he had been fascinated about “the departure of my beloved classmate.”

“I’m inspired and compelled to essentially come to grips with how brief time is, and my time might be even shorter,” he stated.

The band fashioned after Van Halen and his brother, Alex, met Roth.
